Case Study

Project Target: Conveyor System
Origin: Athens, Greece
Destination: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

Scope of Work – Delivery of x2 14 ton Conveyor Reels, Ex Work’s factory in Athens to Oktedi Wharf in PNG. This was a fast paced job requiring precise attention to detail. TGI was advised on a Tuesday morning that the conveyor belts at the mine in PNG were broken and replacements were urgently required. Immediately an IL76 aircraft was located in and around the manufacturer’s location in Greece and mobilized to arrive at Athens airport within the space of a few hours.

The cargo was loaded with the assistance of trucks and cranes also organised by TGI. Upon arrival into PNG we supervised the clearance and then discharge of the conveyors into the hands of the customer. At the time, and this still might be the case, the project was a “world record” in terms of weight and distance travelled within a set space of time, this being 3 days door to door.

RESULT Minimised the down time within the mine via coordinating all aspects of the charter on behalf of the customer.
